Which notifications do students receive?
Students receive the same notifications as parents, based on the communications and announcements made available to them. Notifications can be set via email and app push (requires downloading the School Signals app).
Text messages and voice messages go out on Priority posts. To receive text messages and/or voice messages, the student needs to verify their phone number.
The verification process is as follows: the student enters their phone number. The student will receive a verification code via text message. The student enters the verification code on their My Account.
Are students notified about all content they can access?
Unless the student has turned off or unsubscribed from their notifications, the student is notified on
New School Feed posts (includes auto-created event reminders)
News and Updates in Classrooms, Clubs, and Groups
New chat messages
Reminders to fill out online forms
Other system reminders.
Delivery reports include deliveries to student accounts.
Can students manage their own notification preferences?
Yes, students manage their notification preferences in My Account > Notifications.
Do students receive notifications for classroom, group, and club posts?
Yes, students receive immediate or daily notifications, depending on their chosen setting. By default, notifications go out immediately. Students can turn off notifications, too.
Do students receive notifications for new forms, documents, or events?
Students receive notifications on new forms when the admin who created the form has set the form for students and chosen to announce it in the communication feed.
Documents cannot be automatically announced in School Signals. For students to be notified of a new document, the Admin or teacher should make a post and link to the document. Admins and teachers can also include attachments to posts.
Students receive event announcements and reminders for school-wide, grade-level, and group/club/classroom membership-based events.
Note that notifications can be turned off by a student.
