Setting Notifications for Inactive Accounts
School Admins can enable School and Classroom Feed notifications for inactive accounts. The notification goes to all account types: inactive School Admin accounts, inactive parent accounts, inactive teacher accounts, and inactive student accounts (if used).
The frequency of notifications is capped to one daily recap unless the post is marked as critical or priority.
To set notifications for inactive accounts, go to: School Feed > Feed Mgmt > Access Rights > Inactive Accounts.
Who are inactive users?
Users are considered inactive if they account shows as pending or invited.
What if an inactive user does not want any communication from School Signals?
Each notification email message includes an Unsubscribe link. The inactive account holder can click the link and unsubscribe without logging in. This stops all future notifications for the inactive account.
Why can't I notify Inactive Accounts immediately?
We balance delivering important school notifications with respecting privacy. Please note:
A daily email includes all posts for the day — inactive account holders won't miss any messages.
If the topic is crucial, post the message as a Critical Alert or Priority Post, depending on the topic and context.
You can set Priority Posts to go out immediately to inactive accounts.
Critical Alerts are always delivered to inactive accounts immediately by email, and text and voice (if the parent's phone number is on file).
Inactive Accounts During Onboarding
Do notifications go out to pending accounts when the school is still in Setup status?
No. Notifications do not go out out to pending accounts.
Does an inactive user's daily notification include posts that we made that day, but before their account was created?
Yes. The account receives all posts from the day.
