School Admin Notifications: How does the School Signals system notify School Admins?

School Admins receive notifications through email, text messages, app push notifications, and system notifications via the bell icon. They can customize their notification preferences and frequency under My Account > Notifications.


Additionally, School Admins may have feature-specific roles, such as managing groups, events, or volunteer opportunities, and receive relevant updates accordingly.

School-Wide News Posts

  • All School Admins can post School News in the School Feed.

  • Admins receive notifications for:

    • Email: Immediate, daily, or weekly

    • Mobile text: For Priority posts

    • Instant mobile push

    • System notification bell: Updates on posts they've made, commented on, or followed

  • Admins are also notified (via the bell and app push) of reported feed posts and photos.


Grade-Level Posts

  • School Admins can create and manage all grade-level posts.

  • Notification settings:

    • Email: Immediate, daily, or weekly

    • Mobile text: For Priority posts

    • Instant mobile push (for admins using the app)

    • System notification bell: Updates on posts they’ve made, commented on, or followed


Classrooms

  • School Admins can access and post in all Classrooms.

  • To receive Classroom-specific notifications, an Admin must join the Classroom.

  • Classroom members can set notifications for:

    • Email: Immediate, daily, or weekly

    • Mobile text: For Priority posts

    • Instant mobile push (for admins using the app)

    • System notification bell: Updates on posts they’ve made, commented on, or followed

  • Classroom Admin Role: Admins assigned as Classroom Admins receive daily notifications on new classroom applications requiring manual approval.


Groups

  • School Admins can access and post in all Groups.

  • To receive Group-specific notifications, an Admin must join the Group.

  • Group members can set notifications for:

    • Email: Immediate, daily, or weekly

    • Mobile text: For Priority posts

    • Instant mobile push (for admins using the app)

    • System notification bell: Updates on posts they’ve made, commented on, or followed

  • Group Admin Role:

    • Group Admins receive daily notifications on new group applications.

    • Teachers assigned as Group Admins can edit the Group.

    • All School Admins automatically have Group editing permissions.


Photo Galleries

  • Mobile push notifications are sent to users who follow a gallery.

  • System notifications (bell) provide updates for users following a gallery.

  • Admins are also notified via the bell and app push when galleries or photos are reported.


RSVP Events

  • Admins can subscribe as Event Admins via the event’s add/edit interface.

  • Event Admins receive:

    • Daily notifications on new comments in the Event Feed

    • Daily notifications on RSVP sign-ups


Volunteering

  • Volunteer Admins receive bell notifications when a parent signs up for a volunteer task.

  • Bell notifications also update Volunteer Admins on new comments in the Volunteer Feed.

  • School Admins who are not Volunteer Admins can follow a volunteer opportunity to receive bell updates on new Volunteer Feed posts.


Parent-Teacher Conferences

  • Teachers receive updates when parents sign up for conferences in their classroom.

  • School Admins do not receive notifications for conference sign-ups.


Chat Messaging

  • School Admins receive daily email notifications for new messages.

  • Immediate app push notifications are sent for new messages.

  • The Chat icon displays message counts for unread messages.

  • School Admins also receive bell and app push notifications for reported chat messages and photos.


New Content Announcements

  • Admins can announce new content (e.g., new groups, events, and online forms) in the School Feed.

  • The School Feed’s notification settings apply to:

    • Announcements of new online forms, groups, volunteering opportunities, events, and classroom updates.
