Parent Notifications: How does the platform notify parents?

Parents receive notifications by email and app push on standard posts and communication.

Priority posts are additionally delivered by text and voice to users who have verified their phone number.

Critical alerts override users' notification settings and are delivered by email, text, app push, and voice to all users with an account.

Voice Messages are delivered with a text-to-speech (TTS) service in parent's chosen language. For instance, if a parent has set their language as Vietnamese, the voice message they receive is spoken in Vietnamese.

Active Accounts

Parents with active accounts receive notifications on new feed posts through email, text, voice, and app push.

Parents set their notifications in My Account > Notifications. Critical alerts override parents' notification preferences.

Inactive Accounts

Inactive parent accounts can be set to receive a daily email notification that covers all posts for the day. Priority alerts can be set to go out immediately to inactive accounts. Learn more.

Critical alerts are automatically sent to all accounts in the system, active and inactive.

  • New Online Forms

  • New Groups

  • New Volunteering Opportunities

  • New Events

  • New Classroom Announcements

Can parents set notifications differently between groups, classrooms, clubs and student portfolios?

No. To system bundles these as a one setting to avoid an excessive number of settings for parents.

Weekly Recap Digest

Parents are subscribed to a weekly recap email. The email goes out Monday mornings at 7:15 AM. Parent can toggle off this email from their Notification Settings page.

The weekly recap email includes:

  • Posts from the previous week

  • Upcoming events

  • Links to required forms that parent should fill

If an account is added/invited later in the week, would their weekly recap include posts made from earlier that week?

Yes. The account receives all posts from the week.
