Users receive notifications about regular posts via email and app push notifications. A Priority Post can additionally send notifications via text message, voice call, or both.
Priority Posts can be made by School Admins and teachers. Teachers can send Priority Posts to the same audiences where they have posting rights.
Priority Posts are available on all School Signals plans.
The Priority Post Interface
Priority Posts are created using the same interface as regular posts. Simply select a Priority Post option from the drop-down menu above the post title field.
You can choose Priority post (text message), Priority post (voice message), or Priority post (text + voice).
A Title is required for Priority Posts and is included in the email, text message, and voice message.
Below the title is the field is for the text and/or voice message. It can contain up to 200 characters. If you selected text + voice, the same message is used for both.
When you enter the text/voice message, the content is automatically carried over to the Post + email field below the text/voice message field. You can add more text or edit the text for the Post + email message. You can attach photos, videos, or documents.
Push Notifications
Priority Post push notifications display the post title as the notification title and the text/voice message as the notification content. Phones may limit how much text is visible in a push notification, so longer titles or messages may be truncated on screen.
Images and attachments are not included in text messages, voice calls and push notifications.
Who receives a Priority Post?
Priority Posts do not override a user's notification preferences.
Priority notifications are sent to users who have a verified phone number and have opted in for text messages and/or voice calls.
For example, if you select Priority post (text + voice), a parent who has opted in to both text and voice notifications can receive both. A parent who has opted in only to text messages can receive the text message, but will not receive a voice call.
Inactive Accounts and Priority Posts
Inactive users can be set to receive Priority Posts as part of the daily email or instantly as an email notification. Inactive accounts are not notified by text or voice call. Learn more.
Language Translations
Users who have their language set in My Account to a language other than English, receive the email, push notification, text message, and the voice messages translated in their set language.
