How do student accounts work with the School Directory and member directories?
Whether students are included in the School Directory is controlled in Student Settings.
The options are:
Students in the School Directory
Use Default (Disabled)
Disabled
Enabled
If enabled, students can set whether to show their email.
Students can see each other’s names listed in classroom, club, and group member directories. These directories remain available even when the school-wide directory is turned off for a student. If you need to hide these directories, please contact Support.
What profile information can students control, and what can other users see?
The student controls whether their email is shown from: My Account > Visibility > Profile Visibility
The student’s email address is hidden by default. The student needs to turn on “Show my profile details” for the email to appear.
If “Show my profile details” is enabled, other users can see the student’s email address unless the student explicitly toggles it off.
When a student leaves a reaction, such as a comment or a like, other users can see, at a minimum, the student’s name and profile picture, if available.
The student’s profile picture, controlled in My Account, is the picture displayed in the directory.
The student can hide themselves from the main directory by toggling off “Show my profile details.”
Students can click “Profile Details” and see the Message button for other students who allow messaging.
