How do I add and format the content?

Updated over 2 weeks ago

You can type in the text or copy sections over from an existing document. The system uses blocks.

  • Titles are added as separate blocks.

  • Each paragraph that you want to style uniquely is added as a separate block.

  • Each image is added as a separate block.

  • Page divider is added as a separate block.

  • Bullet list is added as a separate block.

  • You can drag each block up or down the page to organize the content.

How to Add a New Content Block

You have two ways:

  • Hover the left side and click the Plus button, OR

  • Type forward slash symbol: /

Either of these commands opens the block selector where you select the content type:

  • Text

  • Heading 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6

  • Divider

  • Bullert List

  • Ordered List

  • Image

  • Table

How to Change a Heading Size

Titles come with Heading 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 options.
To change the heading size, first highlight the text. Then,

  • on Windows, click Ctrl + Alt + Number (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6) to indicate the wanted title size

  • on Mac, click Command + Option + Number (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6) to indicate the wanted title size

How to Convert Heading to a Regular Text Size

  • on Windows, click Ctrl + Alt + Number 0

  • on Mac, click Command + Option + Number 0

How to Add Image

  1. Hover on the left side and click the Plus button — or type the forward slash symbol: /

  2. From the menu that appears, select Image as the content type.

  3. Upload the image from your device (recommended).

  4. You may also paste a direct image URL, such as one hosted on your school’s website. Keep in mind that if the original image URL changes, the image in your page will no longer display since it’s referenced — not stored — in School Signals.

How to Add an Image Alt tag

  1. After your image is uploaded, hover over it and click the speech-bubble icon.

  2. Enter a short caption describing the image.

  3. This caption becomes the image ALT text, which helps screen readers describe the image to users who rely on assistive technology.

How to Move Content Up or Down

Next to your content, hover the gray side area on left. Click the "dots" button. This highlights your content block. Drag the content up or down where you want it to appear.

The video shows how image is highlighted and then dragged to a new position. Be sure to click 'Save' when you are done with edits.
