FACTS Integration — Customer Steps

FACTS Integration Guide

School Signals can securely import student, parent, and teacher information from FACTS.

The setup consists of three simple steps:

  1. Create an API key for School Signals in FACTS.

  2. Contact School Signals to perform the initial data import.

  3. Review and complete your school setup in School Signals.

Step 1: Create API Key in FACTS

The first step is to create an API key for School Signals in your school's FACTS environment.

Log in to your school's FACTS account. Go to Hamburger (Top left menu) > System > Configuration > API configuration

For the subscription key, enter:

ab2f207e5cf3467d9cf1faaf5b8aec44

If FACTS asks you to select API scopes, provide read access to the Academic and People domains.

Once complete, provide the generated secret API key securely to your School Signals contact, such as by a phone call or via a secure upload link.

Step 2: Import Data from FACTS to School Signals

Once you have provided the generated API key, please check that the student, parent, and teacher data in FACTS is accurate.

Once ready, contact your School Signals account representative to request the initial import. Please specify which information you would like School Signals to import.

School Signals can import from FACTS:

  • Students

  • Parents

  • Teachers who are marked as Active + Faculty

  • Teacher grade levels based on their course schedules

  • Each student's assigned Homeroom Teacher in FACTS, which will be referred to as the Primary Teacher in School Signals

Step 3: Complete Your School Setup

After School Signals securely imports the data, you can review and edit student, parent, and teacher information within School Signals.

School Signals has read-only access to the FACTS API. Therefore:

  • Changes made within School Signals, such as updating an email address, are not synced back to FACTS.

  • New accounts created in School Signals are not synced back to FACTS.
